Kelly Keenan

Kelly started riding as a young girl in Central California and before she was out of school, had fully committed to becoming a horse trainer. She started English, taking jumping lessons… until she found the sport of Reining.

Working up through the ranks, earning her way into training and competition positions in the booming reining industry in the USA, Kelly found her calling in coaching, with specialty in preparing horses and riders, getting them in sync together and ensuring her clients’ horses stayed healthy, willing and honest in competition.

Having emigrated to New Zealand in 2020, Kelly set about to help horsemen and women throughout the country to reach for their training goals. With a clinic schedule reaching from Kaitaia in the far north to Dunedin in the south, many horsemen and women have had access to learn from this young horsewoman with experience in the big western industry in the USA.

Kelly still shows her own horses and select client horses in her training program and is based in New Zealand’s beautiful Waikato region.

From Rodeo to Western Showing events, and now diversifying into Dressage and Working Equitation, Kelly’s western-based approach has appealed to many riders of different sports. She remains dedicated to educating New Zealand’s horsemen and
women and personally invested in their success.
